The Randolph Cross Country program competed this past Saturday, September 30 at the 2017 edition of the “Arab Invitational” at Arab City Park.

It is finally feeling like autumn! Our Raiders had great weather to run in. The Cross Country team had a strong showing, and had first place finishers in all our races. Go Raiders!

The first race of the day was the “Junior High” girls 2-mile race at 9:00 a.m. The girls were a bit short handed, but managed to race strong and finishing fourth, scoring 97 points. Another first place finish for seventh grader Sarah Kate Mitchell with an overall time of 14:07! Following closely behind was Claire Deaton with an overall 2nd place finish in 14:17.  Corrina Matthews and Grace Molloy finished 38th and 44th overall in 17:47 and 18:10 respectively.  Finally, we have Farrah Memon in 18:53 and 19:11, in 47th place overall.   View Full Results

The second race of theday was the “Junior High” boys 2-mile race at 9:30 a.m. The middle school boys finished second out of nine scoring teams.  Eighth grader Eric Xing, who had a first place finish with a 12:03 time, led the boys to a great race! David Coomer, raced a 12:32 for a fourth place overall finish.  Ben Pollock took fifth overall with a 12:36 time. Felipe Marples Rodriguez, raced a 13:37 and placed 24th overall. ShreyasPuducheri followed, finishing in 13:47 and was 27th overall. David Young ran a 14:42 time and finished in 47th place overall. The third race of the day was the “Varsity Small School 1A-4A” girls division 5K race at 10:00 a.m. The girls secured a first place trophy defeating the other schools in our division. Freshman Emma Hudson led the girls with a first place finish with a 21:31! Senior Katherine Hunter followed with a fifth place finish and a 22:27 5K time. Junior Nisha Mailapur crossed the finished line afterward with a sixth place finish in 23:10. Junior Sara Hutchens finished 9th place with a23:57. Freshman Faline Zhao finished 11th, and ran a 25:34. Senior Anna Grace Johnson ran a 32:08, and finished 31st overall. Jaya Evans wrapped it up for the Raiders finishing 32nd overall with a 31:48. View Full Results

The last race of the day for the Randolph cross country program was the “Varsity Small School 1A-4A” boys division 5K race at 10:30 a.m. The boys also secured the first place trophy for our division! The team had a solid showing and finished first out of 8 scoring teams with 47 points. Senior Matthew Estopinal led the pack with a first place finish with a 17:01 5K time. Sophomore Lee Thomas raced to the finish line to finish fifth with an 18:58. Sophomore Jack Schamban, finished third overall in 19:22. Junior Will Kessler finished in 16th place in 20:38 with senior Esper Chao following closely behind in 19th place with a 20:44 5K time. Freshman Alex Covert finished 27th with a 21:18. Junior Nicholas Hammond finished 33rd overall with a 21:51. Wrapping it up for the Raiders were freshmen Evan DeVine, and Adin Rossi finished 51st and 60th place overall with 24:00, and 24:58 respectively.  View Full Results
