Game Recap

On Friday October 6th, the Randolph Raider Football team made history, yet again.  The Raiders punched their 3rd consecutive ticket to the post season with a 21-7 win over North Jackson. The win over the Chiefs was the first in school history. The Raiders (4-2,3-1) got off to a slow start in the first half with their only points coming from a 37-yard TD reception by Sam Kimel. The Raiders trailed 7-6 at the break, only to come alive in the 2nd half. Kimel rushed for a pair of TD’s of 11 and 82 yards, while the defense managed to shut down the Chiefs offense. The Raiders defense gave up only 120 yards on the ground for the night while Jackson Vest and Reed Thurman combined for 24 tackles.

A few Raider seniors and Coach Flanagan commented on what it feels like to be in the post season 3 years in a row.

“It was huge for the program. This is a tight knit senior class I am a part of and we want everyone to remember what we have done on the field. Getting in 3 years in a row is just adding to the culture we have strived to create since Coach Flanagan started here, and I am so blessed to be a part of it” – Jackson Vest

“It was a great team win; every player did great at doing their job and playing for the team. Being on the first team to go to the playoffs ever and then going the past two years is a special feeling. It feels like a start of a tradition for the program.”- Levon Fletcher

“There’s no better feeling than making it to the playoffs, especially when we punched our ticket with a huge win over one of the strongest football programs in the state. Being in the playoffs 3 years in a row is something special that many people never get to experience, but it has now become a standard for our football program. This team is special and we’re gonna keep doing things that many people never imagined we ever could.” Brad Layton

“It has been a really awesome experience watching my class grow and come together to accomplish our goal each year of making the playoffs which has made it almost a standard for our program. As Coach Flanagan always says, dominate the day and we will like where we end up.”- Colton Scoggins

“I am just very happy and proud of our guys. I’m happy they get to experience this win, and experience another post season. A lot of guys will get the glory for tonight, but this was an overall team win. Every single person on that sideline and field played a part this week. We gave up our fall break to practice and prepare for this game. It was a team win. I have been very blessed to be here as the head coach for 3 years and be a part of this. A lot of other coaches and players laid the foundation for what we have been able to do. We have made huge strides in our football program and every bit of credit goes to those kids on the field and the assistant coaches we have. They have bought in and done everything we have asked them to do. I am just blessed to be a part of it.  We are not done yet.” – Coach Flanagan

The Raiders will have a bye week this week before facing off with D.A.R.  October 20th.
