The Randolph Cross Country program competed this past Tuesday, October 17 at the 2017 edition of the “Huntsville Metro Cross Country Championship” at John Hunt Running Park in Huntsville.

It was a sunny day with perfect conditions to run. Fall is finally here, and the runners love it! The Randolph Raiders competed in two races.

The first race of the day was the “Boys 5K” race at 4:00 p.m. All middle and high school boys participated in this race. The boys finished third out of seven scoring teams.  Senior Matthew Estopinal led the pack with a first place finish, and a new school record with a time of 15:52! Kohl Kraus and Lee Thomas raced to the finish line to finish 14th and 19th respectively in 17:40 and 17:55. Jack Schamban, finished 23rd overall in 18:00. Eric Xing finished in 24th place with a time of 18:01. Chris Wiginton placed 48th with a 19:15 time. Will Kessler following close behind raced a 19:16 and placed 50th overall.  Max Pitsinos finished 52nd in 19:20. Alex Covert finished 53rd overall with a 19:31. Sims Fann finished 58th with a 19:52. Esper Chao raced a 19:56 for a 59th place finish. Felipe Marples Rodriguez finished 65th with a 20:32. Jackson Howse finished 67th overall with a 20:32. David Coomer finished 70th with a 20:45. Ben Pollock finished 78th with a 20:56. Nicholas Hammond raced a 21:06 for a 93rd place finish. Evan DeVine, Shreyas Puducheri, and Simon Yang finished 86th, 90th, and 93rd place overall with 21:14, 21:43, and 21:43 respectively. Adin Rossi finished 99th with a 23:19 time. Alex Anderson finished 101st with a 24:05. Wrapping it up for the Raiders was Wesley Hodge and David Young. Wesley finished 104th overall and David 106th with a 24:44 and 24:48 respectively.

The second and last race of the day was the “Girls 5K” race at 4:30 p.m. All middle and high school girls participated. The girls raced a solid race, and finished second out of six scoring teams. Emma Hudson was the first Raider to cross the line at 20:16, and finishing fifth overall. Katherine Hunter followed with a seventh place finish and a 20:30 time. Sarah Kate Mitchell finished 10th with a 20:39 time. Zoe Evans was crossed the finish line with a 20:47, and finishing 13th overall. Elizabeth Johnson finished 17th with a 21:33 time. Nisha Mailapur crossed the finished line afterward with an 18th place finish in 21:36. Claire Deaton finished 22nd with a 22:12 time. Sara Hutchens finished 24th place with a 22:21. Sydney Clary finished 28th with a 23:02. Caroline Stucky followed close behind, finished in 29th place, and ran a 23:06. Faline Zhao finished 31st and Grace Stucky finished 32nd overall with 23:27 and 24:10 respectively. Margaret Stucky finished 41st with a 25:58 time. Following closely behind was Brooke Harmon with an overall 43rd place, and a 26:09 time. Grace Molloy and Corrina Matthews finished 46th and 48th overall with 27:26 and 27:57 respectively. To finish the race for the Raiders, we had Anna Grace Johnson and Audrey Johnson in 28:54 and 29:34, in 50th and 54th place overall respectively.

The Raiders Cross Country Team’s next race will be the Liz Hurley Run on October 21. Sectionals and State Competitions are in the horizon! Let’s go Raiders!
