Bowling wraps up their season with the girls heading to Regionals

370 Reads

The Randolph boys bowling team worked hard throughout season #2 for Randolph and for AHSAA overall.  The goal was to get better every day. The boys came together and bonded as team.  They got better every match and were bowling their best at the end of the season.  The team showed great improvement and the future looks bright for the team.  Join us this Friday, Jan 27 in honoring our senior bowlers.

The girls team had only one returning bowler from last year’s first season which ended with a trip to Tuscaloosa for the Regional tournament. Season #2 was thought to be a rebuilding year in the off season, but the team wouldn’t have it. With 3 seniors and 4 freshmen, the team came together and were ready to continue what last year’s team started.  The girls had some great matches this year and had a 5-match winning streak at one point. The girls matched last year’s strong season by qualifying for the regional tournament (all 7 classifications are combined in bowling) in Tuscaloosa yet again.

At the regional tournament, the girls qualified as the 15th seed. They were matched up against Etowah the number 2 seed.   They took on Etowah Friday morning in 5 baker games.  After the first game the girls had a 16-pin lead.  The girls held on to a 2-pin lead after the second game.  The third game Etowah was hot and took the lead. The 4th game of the baker game the Randolph girls set a season high score with a 153. The girls could not overcome the big lead and were put out of the regional tournament after the 5th game.

The girls’ season may have ended with a loss at Regionals, but the future looks bright.
