Randolph hopes to build off historic season

Last year was memorable for the Randolph football program.

The Raiders earned their first playoff berth in program history and finished 7-4. Randolph fielded teams from 1973-79, then re-established the program in 2010.

“We had a great year last year anchored by some great seniors,” Randolph’s second-year coach Nick Flanagan said. “We’re just building the momentum. If we can do that I think we’ll have a great year. We’ve got a very bright future coming up.”

This season Randolph will drop from Class 5A to 4A. Flanagan hopes this will help his program, which has multiple two-way players. Last year the Raiders faced larger schools, including a playoff tilt with Wenonah, which has one of the largest enrollments in 5A.  Read more on al.com
