The Raiders traveled to Oakville Saturday, 8/13, to run the Green Corn 5k. The runners were able to preview the important course, where they will return in September for Chickasaw Trails, October for Jesse Owens, and November for 4A State. For the boys, junior Matthew Estopinal placed 3rd, junior Kohl Kraus 9th, senior Colin Quirk 23rd, freshman Jack Schamban 27th, and senior Brooks Johnson 39th. For the girls, junior Zoe Evans placed 3rd, junior Katherine Hunter placed 6th, junior Caroline Stucky placed 7th, 8th grader Emma Hudson placed 8th, and freshman Jaya Evans placed 9th. Full results are listed below. The Raiders will next compete August 27th in Moulton at the Pepsi Invitational.

Saturday morning, the Raiders Middle School Team traveled to the Oakville Indian Mounds and competed at the Green Corn Run 5K. There were 172 finishers including 103 men and 69 women. 8th grader Emma Hudson led the girls team with a time of 22:27, finishing in 57th place overall and 8th place in the women’s competition. For the boys, David Coomer and Ben Pollock had a strong first race finishing 45th and 50th in the men’s competition. The Raiders will return to Oakville to compete three more times during the season.
