Multiple Teams · Girls Varsity Tennis Team Sweeps Sectional Tournament

After finishing the regular season with an undefeated record in their section, this young Raiders’ squad continued along their dominant path to post a 27-0 combined record at the Section Tournament at Point Mallard In Decatur and Lee High School on April 17 and 18. They fought hard to secure both a team and 9 combined singles and doubles section championships over the two days of play, including a long day one and a rain-suspended extension to day two at Lee High School. Earning the tournament maximum point total possible of 63 points, the entire varsity starting lineup brought home Section Championships and a berth at State in Mobile.

Several players overcame tough individual regular season losses to soundly defeat those same opponents in their finals matches at the Section Tournament, including Ruby Krasnow with a 6-3, 6-3 victory vs. Westminster, Dani Dailey adding a 7-6, 6-2 win over Scottsboro at #2 singles, Lochlin Wessel with a 6-2, 6-2 win at #5 singles vs. Westminster, and Sarah Whelden Hall edging out her Westminster opponent 6-3, 5-7, 7-5 over two days in the #6 singles spot. The girls fought injuries, rain delays, and a 14 – hour first day of play to emerge Section Champs!

The Raiders look to extend their successful season against some exceptional competition at the 4A-5A AHSAA State Championships in Mobile on April 23-25.
