Senior Year is a time to look forward as well as a time to reflect. You can’t help but think about your years at Randolph and what it is meant to you: Friends, classes, trips, and sports. I will be interviewing seniors throughout the year from all sports for their last thoughts as a Raider. This Week I spoke with Katherine Jones one of the seniors on the basketball cheer squad.
What colleges are you looking at for next year?
Katherine Jones: I’ve already decided, I’m going to Auburn!
What’s your favorite class this year?
Katherine Jones: My favorite class this year is comparative anatomy. I love science.
What are you looking forward to during this year’s basketball cheer season?
Katherine Jones: I would love for us to beat Madison Academy and see how far we can go this season!
How does it feel to be one of the seniors on the team?
Katherine Jones: It’s a good feeling being one of the leaders on the team.
Do you participate in any sports besides cheer?
Katherine Jones: I participate in outdoor track and I am a sprinter.
What does it mean for you to be on the Randolph basketball cheer team?
Katherine Jones: I like being a part of a team. I like cheering on my friends in the different sports.
What will you miss most about Randolph next year?
Katherine Jones: I will miss the teachers, especially Dr. Chan!
Favorite basketball cheer memory?
Katherine Jones: When I did 14 back handsprings on the basketball court. It was a team building activity.
What distinguishes basketball cheer from cheer for other sports?
Katherine Jones: Basketball cheer you get to sit down more, which is nice because you’ll have more energy to put into the cheers.
Do you have a preference between the two cheer seasons?
Katherine Jones: I prefer cheer during the football season, but that’s because I prefer football over basketball.
