Girls Varsity Basketball · Raider named to AHSAA Leadership Team

Randolph Junior Claire Couvillon was one among 18 student athletes chosen for the 2018 Student Leadership Group in Alabama.  Claire was the only student selected  from the Huntsville area.  This honor requires a two-year commitment that will involve Claire participating in several events during that time.

Her first event will be to attend  a leadership conference hosted by the AHSAA in Montgomery in March.

Coach DeGraaff had these words to say about Claire, When I think of Claire, I think “servant-leader”.  And I don’t say that loosely.  I have only coached Claire for one year; this year; her junior year.  She transferred to Randolph as a sophomore and had to sit out.  I was able to witness, first hand, her servant hood through her attentiveness to her teammates. Although, Couvillon was allowed to practice with the team, come game-day, she was our team manager.

Claire did not hesitate to take on a role that most would run from.  She never had to be told to get the water ready, put the towels on the chairs, or get the ball rack out.  Claire is the first to ask, “How can I help?”

This season Claire was our backup point guard and at times our #2 perimeter player.  If you don’t know Claire, she stands about 5’ feet tall.  She is spunky, level-headed, and most of all has a contagious, joyful spirit.

Claire is very deserving of this honor.  She truly has a heart for others.

Big congratulations Claire, way to Raise The R!
