Raider Michaela Morard has been selected to the USA Today All-USA Second team. She shot a state-record 8-under-par in the first round of the Alabama Class 4A-5A state tournament in May, but her two-round total of 137 was only good for second place. Read more on USA Today
Michaela was also selected to the 2018 Alabama HS Super All-State Golf Team.
This week she participated in the 28th AL Women’s Stroke Play Championship hosted by Canebrake Club in Athens. Morard followed up Wednesday’s 63 with a 66. Her round included seven birdies and an eagle. She leads by six shots heading into the final round on Friday.
On Friday Michaela went wire-to-wire to take home the trophy and Gold medal to become a two-time Alabama Women’s Stroke Play Champion. She carded eight birdies in her final round of six-under 66 giving her a total of 195 (-21) to win by eleven shots. Her 195 smashes the record for lowest 54-hole score in championship history. Previous record was set by Morard back in 2016 with a 215 total at TP Country Club in Cullman. Read more on Alabama Golf Association.
