Randolph is excited to welcome back to the court our very own Coach Emerson. Coach Emerson coached the Varsity Volleyball team at Randolph 2009-2014 with 2 Final 4 appearances. Let’s get her thoughts on taking over this team and her upcoming season.
How are summer workouts going?
The girls have put in a lot of really great effort. They have been improving skills and building team chemistry. I am looking forward to preseason when I will have them all in the gym and we can start to put things together.
What is your philosophy for the team?
The most important part of coaching is always mentoring young women while building team culture and great relationships through the love of the game.
Are there younger players that will be stepping up this season?
We are a really young team with a lot of heart. I will have several freshman who will have to make an impact and and an 8th grader, Tasha Stepp who will have to contribute for us to be successful.
Team leaders for this season?
Our returning sophomores are going to have to take charge and rebuild the programs culture. Mary Maddox, Emma, and Eliana will all step up and be leaders this season.
Brief outlook on upcoming season?
It will likely be a challenging start, but with the amount of heart and effort in the girls, we expect to grow a lot throughout the season. Our goal is to make it to the playoffs.
