Boys Middle School Cross Country, Boys Varsity Cross Country · Lake Guntersville Invitational


On Saturday, October 6th, 2018, the Randolph Cross Country boys competed at the 2018 edition of the “Lake Guntersville Invitational” in Guntersville, AL.  The Randolph cross country program only had the boys competing at this meet.

HIGHLIGHT: Lee Thomas finishes 7th overall, gets the shirt, and leads the boys to a 4th place overall team finish in the 4A-7A division.

4A – 7A BOYS 5K:
The only race of the day for the Raiders was the 4A-7A boys division 5k race at 10:30 am. The boys raced 20 boys with middle school members being elevated to the varsity division. The boys finished 4th place out of 11 complete teams, scoring 85 points. Once again, Lee Thomas was the first Raider to cross the finish line for the boys! Lee finished 7th place overall in 17:31. Eric Xing followed, and finished 12th place overall in 18:12. Next, eighth grader Jackson Howse finished 16th overall in 18:36 (40 second personal record). Jack Schamban makes his season debut with a 24th place overall and 19:17. Alex Covert, with a season best, finishes 26th in 19:26. The next three members, Will Kessler, Sims Fann, and Wright McManus, also had season or personal bests. Will Kessler, Sims, and Wright finished 30th 19:44, 35th 19:59, and 36th 20:01. Not far behind, 7th grader Evan Shields, Nicholas Hammond, Evan DeVine, and making his 2018 debut, Felipe Marples Rodriguez, all finishing 49th 20:59, 51st 21:21, 54th 21:52, and 55th 21:53 respectively. Next, Alex Anderson and Adin Rossi finished 61st and 64th place overall in 22:34 and 22:43 respectively. Following them, David Casimes and 7th grader Jamie Matthews finished 77th and 84th overall place in 23:31 and 24:51 respectively. Finally, Charles Thompson, Wesley Hodge, Howard Tidwell, Pong Somboon finished in 99th, 100th, 101st, and 104th overall place in 27:23, 27:59, 28:42, and 29:09 respectively.

After each week the coaches have awarded an athlete with the cross country program’s version of the “Game Ball” for a special performance from a meet or from the preceding week in the workouts or leadership. This week, the “Game Ball” goes to Junior, Captain Lee Thomas. Congrats Lee!
