The Raiders earned the #2 overall seed following a strong 12-2 regular season and earning a bye to the semi-final round where we faced a tough New Hope team. We got off to a slow start in the 1st half and only led 13-12 at the break. The 2nd half was a different story as the Raiders went on a 22-4 in the 3rd sparked by 7th grader Lawson Pippins scoring 13 straight points for the Raiders, while 8th grader Nic Strong would add 6 himself as Randolph pulled away and finished with a 38-26 win.
Randolph advanced to the championship game to play the Wildcats of Westminster Christian, a team that was both undefeated and had dealt the Raiders their only 2 losses of the season – a 3 point loss at home, and a 20 point loss on the road. In front of a packed Drake gymnasium, and a hotly contest back and forth contest, Randolph pulled off the upset 32 – 31! The Raiders were paced with a balanced scoring attack with 8th grader Grayson Davenport scoring 9 pts, Lawson Pippins 7, Andrew Hunter 6, and Nic Strong adding 5.
Andrew Hunter, Nic Strong, and Lawson Pippins would also go on to earn All-Tournament honors as well. Randolph completed its season with a 14-2 overall record and it’s first County Championship since 2015.
