Boys Varsity Soccer · Varsity Boys Soccer open up area play in a big way

The Raiders traveled to Muscle Shoals tonight to take on the Trojans of Muscle Shoals High School in their first area game.  The field was turf and it took a few minutes for the team to get going, but they sure got going.  In the 9th min Sam Hartley won the ball and took it straight to goal for the 1-0 lead.  Four minutes later Sam played a corner in and Sean O’Hare headed it back across the goal to find Sachin Katyal who put it in for the 2-0 lead.  Six minutes later it was Tyler Williams who scored on a cross from Sam.  Sean got in to the scoring action in the 26th minute finishing a cross from…. Wait for it… Guess who… Sam.  With 6 minutes to go to half Parker League played a perfect ball over the top to, yes you know who, Sam who one-timed it past the keeper for his Hat Trick.

The game went to half with the Raiders up 6-0.  The Raiders made some adjustments at halftime and gave some valuable minutes to key Freshmen;  Anders Hughes, Sam Servick, Ethan Kubista and Owen Phillips.  The team still dominated the possession.  In the 48th minute Wes Minton increased the lead to 7-0 on a nice ball from Ted Kubista.  Goalie, wait what?, I mean forward Max Shaw scored on a free kick to make it 8-0.   Late in the game we had a little mix up in the back that allowed the Trojans to get on the board.  It was only 2 minutes later when Wes got the goal back to finish the scoring.  The Raiders win 9-1 and win a key first area game.   They Raider take on area opponent Athens High School next Thursday 3/7 @ Randolph.  Come out and support your Raiders. #WeReady #GameDayOnGarth
