An early lead helped Randolph defeat Mae Jemison 12-8 on Thursday. Raiders scored on a single by Emma Gold, a groundout by Joanna Vega, a single by Madisen Murphy, a single by Claire Couvillon, a single by Eliana Horowitz, and an error in the second inning.
Raiders collected 11 hits and Mae Jemison had eight in the high-scoring affair.
After Randolph scored one run in the top of the seventh, Mae Jemison answered with one of their own. Raiders scored when Madisen Murphy singled on a 0-1 count, scoring one run. Mae Jemison then answered when Clarasha Terrel grounded out, scoring one run.
Randolph pulled away for good with eight runs in the second inning. In the second Emma Gold singled on a 2-2 count, scoring one run, Joanna Vega grounded out, scoring one run, Madisen Murphy singled on a 2-2 count, scoring one run, Claire Couvillon singled on a 1-0 count, scoring one run, Eliana Horowitz singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run, and an error scored two runs for the Raiders.
Mae Jemison scored four runs in the sixth inning. Mae Jemison’s big inning was driven by a single and an error on a ball put in play.
Joanna Vega took the win for the Raiders. She allowed eight hits and eight runs over seven innings, striking out eight.
Zavia Rogers took the loss for Mae Jemison.
Randolph tallied 11 hits on the day. Eliana Horowitz, Claire Couvillon, Emma Gold, and Madisen Murphy each collected multiple hits for Randolph. Eliana Horowitz led Randolph with three hits in four at bats.
