The JV Boys Soccer team participated in the Huntsville High School JV SuperCup this weekend. The tournament draws teams from all over the state in one of the most competitive JV tournaments around. The boys got off to a great start in their first game. They defeated the Hazel Green Trojans 6-1. Michael Scheiterer and Ethan Kubista each had two goals, and Patrick Ahearn and Alex Ahearn each added a goal. In the second game the Raiders defeated the Grissom Tigers 2-0. 7th Grader JJ Chou and Curtis Cooper each scored a goal. The defense played well keeping the shutout for the second consecutive game. The defense was led by center backs Curtis Cooper and Anders Hughes with outside play from Davis McClure, Justin Baugh, Rigel Broeren, and Marko Milenkovic.
The third match of the group play was against the East Limestone Indians and the boys needed this win to win the group and play in the championship game. The Raiders dominated the game and especially the midfield. Sam Servick, Owen Phillips, and Anders Hughes controlled the game and it was 8th grader Hunter Hess who scored the lone goal of the game and help the Raiders win the group. The finals were against the James Clemens Jets. The boys played well and had several chances led by Cooper Wyatt. The boys were just a little out matched in this game and fell to the Jets 2-0. The team had a great weekend and came together as a team and played great soccer. Congratulations boys on your runner-up finish in the JV SuperCup.
