Varsity Boys Golf Team Places 3rd out of 13 teams in The Hogan Vaughn Memorial Tournament

The Randolph Varsity Boys continue to play well as a team as the Randolph Blue Team finished in 3rd Place at the 18-Hole 2019 Hogan Vaughn Memorial Tournament hosted by Grissom High School.  Class 7A Sparkman 321 and Class 7A James Clemens 327 placed ahead of the Randolph Blue Team’s score of 329.  The Blue team was led by Freshman Charles Warren who shot a 6 over 78 on a very difficult set up at Valley Hill, finished tied 4th and was named to the All-Tournament Team.  Senior Chris Wiginton and Sophomore Chris Kobriger both shot 83, followed by Junior Bryce Johnson’s 85 and Evan Devine’s 90.   The Randolph Blue team total tournament score of 329 once again establishes a new Boys Randolph School Record low tournament score that was previously set a couple of weeks ago with a score of 330.

The Randolph Silver Team shot a team total score of 406 and scores were led by Senior Blake Mitchell’s 95.  Other Silver Team scores were Senior Fletcher Wilson 102, middle schoolers Drew Dodgen and Luke Lunsford 105 and 8th Grader Evan Brown 110.  Randolph Boys Head Golf Coach Pat Lewellen said “glad to see Chris Wiginton and Bryce Johnson shoot well today in very difficult conditions. I believe it’s the 1st time we have had 4 golfers at 85 and below.  If we continue to get the baseline scoring lower, we can be a very competitive team at sectionals”.

The Boys next action is the Panther Invitational hosted by Huntsville High School scheduled to be played Tuesday, April 2nd at Hampton Cove.  Shotgun start is at 8:00am.
