Multiple Teams · Raider XC advances to State Championships!

The Raiders did it!  Both girls and boys team qualified for the AHSAA 6A State Championships, set for next Saturday, November 14, by finishing 2nd overall as a team (both teams individually finished 2nd) at the AHSAA 6A Section 6 Championship meet this morning, November 5, 2020 at the John Hunt Cross Country Park here in Huntsville, AL.  Not bad for a 3A size school having to compete in the 6A division with schools twice their size! The Raiders look to continue with what worked and fix what didn’t as they head to the Oakville Indian Mounds in Oakville, AL for the state championship meet next weekend.  View photos in the gallery.  More photos in Vidigami.

The girls raced their hearts out but lost a tough one to the team section champion Scottsboro High School.  Sophia White was the meet individual champion! Sophia’s senior and co-captain teammate Emma Hudson finished 3rd, and sophomore Sarah Kate Mitchell finished 13th overall.  Full results

The boys had a plan, and executed said plan.  Not everyone had their best day, but we had a few guys step up big!  U.S. #23 Scottsboro was the class of the field, scoring a perfect 15 points (meaning the finished 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th overall).  Our boys had their hands full with Hartselle and Buckhorn High Schools.  Our boys went in 15+ point underdogs to Hartselle, and narrowly beat Hartselle by 3 points to finish 2nd overall as a team!  Junior Eric Xing finished 10th and sophomore finished 13th overall.  Full results
