The Raiders defeated the Arab Knights in the Final Four today to advance to the 4A-5A State Championship match tomorrow. Junior Sam Hartley led the scoring with two goals and Senior Laurent Honeycutt and Sophomore Ian Krajna each added a goal. The Raiders were in control for much of the game and had a 4-0 lead with more than 25 minutes to play in the game. The team was fortunate to rest some key starters with the lead and get some future stars of Randolph soccer some experience in the State Championships.
The Raiders will have a rematch of last year’s state championship game tomorrow. The Briarwood Lions advanced to the final by defeating St. Paul. Last years game was a back and forth contest. The Raiders scored first but the Lions were able to tie the game just before half. The Lions scored early in the second half to take the 2-1 lead but Sam Hartley scored two goals in the 15 minute to give the Raiders the victory and State Championship. This year’s matchup looks to be another great one. The top two ranked teams in the state meet again for the State Championship tomorrow 5:00 PM at John Hunt Park. You don’t want to miss this game…. come out and support your Raiders.
