Randolph holds onto victory as Ardmore almost erases 5-Run deficit
Raiders built a five-run lead in the sixth inning and then held off Ardmore’s charge for an 8-6 victory on Thursday. Ardmore scored three runs in the failed comeback on a groundout by Hogan Whitt and a double by Nicholas Embrey.
Bats blistered as Randolph School Raiders Varsity collected six hits and Ardmore tallied eight in the high-scoring game.
Raiders got things started in the first inning. Tucker Reed’s wild pitch allowed two runs to score for Randolph.
Randolph put up three runs in the third inning. Raiders big inning was driven by walks by Crockett Worthington and Huston Morring and a single by Jackson Vest.
Colton Scoggins earned the victory on the pitcher’s mound for Randolph. He went six and a third innings, allowing five runs on seven hits, striking out six and walking one. Miles Butler threw two-thirds of an inning in relief out of the bullpen.
Will Griffin went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Randolph in hits.
